Amy Barker, MA, LMHCA
Amy Barker is an Adoption and Trauma Therapist with Northwest Family Life, offering quality, individualized counseling services from a relational psychotherapeutic and cognitive behavioral approach. Amy holds a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology and is licensed with Washington state as a Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA). She is trained in Relational Psychotherapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Filial Play Therapy, and Sandtray Therapy. She currently works with children, teens, adults, and families treating a variety of relational, personal, and mental health concerns. She also facilitates ongoing Adoptive Parent Survival Groups, Adult Adoptee Discussion Groups, and Birthmothers Support Groups.
Amy provides caring, specialized treatment in: adoption and foster care issues, birthfamily relationships and reunions, trauma recovery, PTSD, sexual abuse, grief and loss, identity struggles, anxiety, depression, anger management, children of divorce, cross-cultural adjustments, and more. She treats each client with deep empathy and great hope for healing and wholeness.
Amy also has specialized training in ADOPTS, a program for pre and post adoptive families Addressing the Distress Of Post Traumatic Stress in foster-to-adopt and adoptive children.
